Will Ashwin`s delivery to Amla go down as one of the best in limited-overs cricket?

While cricket experts hail Sharne Warne`s delivery to Mike Gatting as `the ball of the century`, Ashwin`s magical delivery deserves a somewhat equal recognition in limited-overs cricket.

Mirpur: Ravichandran Ashwin has been experimenting a lot with his bowling these days. In the Asia cup, he tried bowling with a different action, and he has also worked on his carrom ball. The efforts paid off for the talented young spinner, as he bowled Hashim Amla with a gem of a delivery in the semi-final of ICC World Twenty20 against South Africa on Friday. MS Dhoni introduced him into the attack in the sixth over of the innings, as the pacers were leaking plenty of runs. As he has done right throughout this series, Ashwin didn`t disappoint his skipper and got the much-needed breakthrough. Ashwin started off with a wide delivery. He made up for it off the next ball - a carrom ball, which pitched outside the leg-stump and turned within a flash, and before Amla could believe what had happened, Indian players were celebrating his dismissal while he looked as his stumps which were knocked off. South Africa had scored 43 runs from the first five overs and Amla had scored two boundaries in Bhuvneshwar Kumar`s previous over. The South African opener had scored 22 runs from 15 balls and was looking to step up the gas, before being bamboozled by Ashwin. While cricket experts hail Sharne Warne`s delivery to Mike Gatting as `the ball of the century`, Ashwin`s magical delivery deserves a somewhat equal recognition in limited-overs cricket.
