Virat Kohli, Men in Blue maintain No. 1 spot in ICC T20 rankings

New Delhi: As the International Cricket Council (ICC) has come up with its new T20 rankings on Monday, mainstay of Indian batting line-up Virat Kohli maintained his top spot in the batting chart.

Kohli's fine form in the recently concluded ICC World Twenty20 helped him to stick at the top.

Australia's opener Aaron Finch and England's Joe Root are at 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

Marlon Samuels, who won the player of the final award, has also returned to the top 20.

Amongst the bowlers, India's pace duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Ashish Nehra have achieved career-best rankings.

Bumrah has vaulted six places to seventh, while Nehra has climbed five places and is now in 11th position.

West Indies' Samuel Badree is the number-one ranked bowler and he leads fellow wrist-spinner Imran Tahir of South Africa by 50 points, while India?s Ravichandaran Ashwin is in third position, another 28 points behind.

As far as countries are concerned, even after losing in the 2nd semi-final of the WT20 to West Indies, India have managed to remain at the top.

However, West Indies, who won their 2nd World T20 title on Sunday, have number-one ranked India firmly within their sights.

The Caribbean side has consequently moved ahead of New Zealand in second place after beating England in the finale at Eden Gardens.

With 125 points, West Indies are mere one point behind table toppers India.

Eoin Morgan-led England are now fourth after swapping places with South Africa.
