India could host international matches at world's highest cricket ground!

New Delhi: If the commitment made by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh translates into action, India could host international cricket matches on the highest cricket ground in the world.

The Chail cricket stadium in Himachal Pradesh is 2444 meters above sea level, which makes it the highest cricket ground in the world.

The Himachal Pradesh government now intends to build the necessary infrastructure at the stadium in order for it to be considered to host BCCI and ICC sanctioned matches.

The decision of the government was conveyed by CM Virbhadra Singh himself through his official account on micro-blogging site Twitter.

\As of now, the ground is used as a play ground by a military school in Chail. But after the success of Dharamshala, a venue that hosts Kings XI Punjab's home matches in the Indian Premier League as well as International matches, the state government is confident it can build another world-class cricket stadium in Himachal Pradesh.
