Cheteshwar Pujara says he was under pressure to perform

Cheteshwar Pujara was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant double century in the first innings as India defeated Australia in the second Test by an innings and 135 runs.

Hyderabad: Cheteshwar Pujara, who was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant double century in the Hyderabad Test, joked that his newlywed wife was worried so he was under pressure to perform.

There was a bit of pressure as I just got married and my wife was worried that I have to perform,” he said during the presentation ceremony. Pujara said that scoring plenty of runs in domestic circuit has helped him built a temperament that is necessary to play marathon innings. “I`ve scored a lot of runs in domestic and that has helped me get the temperament right. It was a very important partnership with Vijay. That was the most important phase of our innings - we communicated well and the partnership set up the game for the team,” he said.
