India vs England 1st Test, Day 4: Statistical HighlightsAhmedabad: Statistical highlights on Day 4 of the first cricket Test between India and England here on Sunday.

Matt Prior`s excellent 84 not out off 190 balls is the second highest by an England wicketkeeper in a Test innings in India. Dick Spooner had posted 92 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata in 1951-52

Prior has posted his highest score in Tests in India. His 23rd fifty in Tests is his fourth against India.

Thanks to his unbeaten innings, Prior is averaging 73.33 in Tests in India - his aggregate being 220 in five innings (twice not out)

Prior`s run-aggregate of 132 (48 + 84 not out) is his highest in a Test match on Indian soil.

Compton and Cook put on 123 - England`s second highest for the opening wicket against India at Sardar Patel Stadium - the highest is 124 between Butcher and Trescothick in December 2001.

Alastair Cook`s brilliant unbeaten 168 is the highest individual innings by a visiting England skipper and the fourth highest by a visiting captain in India. West Indian, Clive Lloyd, with an unbeaten 242 in the 1974-75 Mumbai Test, is the only one with a double hundred as captain in a Test match in India.

Cook (41 + 168 not out) became the first England captain to register 200 runs or more in a Test match against India in India.

Cook`s unbeaten 168 is his 21st Test hundred - his third against India and his eleventh away from home. The said innings is his highest against India in India in Tests apart from the seventh highest for England in India in Tests. Mike Gatting (207) and Graeme Fowler (201) had scored double hundreds in India, both registering the feats in the same innings in the 1984-85 Chennai Test. No other England batsman has recorded double hundred in a Test innings in India.

Cook`s brilliant feat of 21 hundreds is the joint second for England. Wally Hammond, Geoff Boycott and Colin Cowdrey have recorded 22 hundreds each.

During the course of his above century, Cook became the ninth English batsman to manage 1,000 runs against India in Tests, totalling 1084 at an average of 54.20 in 12 Tests.

Cook has registered his third consecutive century as England captain - his scores being 173 & 39 at Chittagong, 21 & 109 not out at Mirpur - against Bangladesh in March 2010 and 41 & 168 not out against India at Ahmedabad in the current Test.

Cook is the fifth England skipper to record a hundred in a Test in India, joining Ted Dexter, Tony Lewis, Tony Greig and Kevin Pietersen.
