New Delhi: For under fire English skipper, Alastair Cook, the series against India would be a make or break one. After the Ashes whitewash followed by another Test series defeat from the hands of the visiting side, Sri Lanka, Cook has been facing criticisms from all corners. And now to silent his critics, it would be his last chance as a skipper to make a statement by leading the side from the front.
England have been going through a transition phase. But even then another series defeat means it would surely be the end of Cook`s regime. In the much anticipated five-match Test series starting from Wednesday at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, a lot is at stake for the home side. England will rely more on their bowling unit, which consists two most prolific Test bowlers in Stuart Broad and James Anderson.
Indian skipper MS Dhoni would also be under immense pressure to lead his inexperienced lot in the alien conditions of England. Though, Dhoni have some promising talent at his disposal, it`s going to be testing time for the visiting team, whose biggest weakness would once again be their bowling.
India have never won a test outside the subcontinent since the 4-0 drubbing from the hands of England in their last tour in 2011. So once again under Dhoni, the Indian team would look for their first Test victory since last two years.
However, England would get the home advantage, but the Indian side have a slight edge over the hosts, who have been under immense pressure to perform well.
