IND vs ENG: After contributing 40 runs, Virat Kohli out with a hit-wicket – Watch Video

Kohli was batting on 40 runs in the 120th over of the match when England's Adil Rashid got him out hit-wicket.

New Delhi: Cheteshwar Pujara and Murali Vijay had given India a case to fight for after contributing with a century each on Day 3.

Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane started India's proceedings with the bat on Day 4, with the former batting on 26 runs while the latter only began his innings in the pre-lunch session.

After Rahane had departed for just 13, Kohli was batting on 40 runs in the 120th over of the match when England's Adil Rashid got him out for one of the most rarest reasons in cricket.

Facing Rashid, Kohli put a big step deep inside his crease but accidently touched the stumps.

A bail fell off in the most subtle manner and the visitors were celebrating picking up Indian captain's wicket.

There were big hopes on Virat's shoulders as everyone was backing him to put in a strong hundred, following the footsteps of Vijay and Pujara but that wasn't the case.

He became the second Indian skipper to be hit-wicket after Lala Amarnath in the 1948-49 series at home against the West Indies. The former Indian skipper was also out in a similar fashion in a One Day International against England in Cardiff in 2011.

The otherwise prolific Kohli had been keen to improve his dismal average against England but failed to build on his good start. He hit five fours in his 95-ball knock.
