Skipper Virat Kohli had just confirmed the return of KL Rahul for the Mumbai Test in the morning, but the unavailability of Rahane will certainly dampen the mood in the camp.

According to reports, the 28-year-old Mumbaiker has an avulsion fracture on right index finger during, and has effectively been ruled out of the remainder of the series.

Besides, Mohammed Shami's participation in the match is also in doubt. Kolhi, during the pre-match presser had said that a call on Shami will only be taken in the evening.

The Indian cricket board has named Manish Pandey as Rahane replacement, and Shardul Thakur will join the team as Shami's back-up.

The fourth Test match starts tomorrow. India have taken a 2-0 lead in the five-match series, thanks to win at Visakhapatnam and Mohali. The first Test at Rajkot ended in a draw.
