Virat Kohli 2.0: India captain unveils new, cooler version of himself during New Zealand Test series

New Delhi: Virat Kolhi is a flamboyant character. He makes things happen, and has rightly been the most celebrated player. But his insistence to become the best has come with an unwanted tag of being aggressive.

But in the just concluded India-New Zealand Test series, the 27-year-old has unveiled his another self, more calmer and cooler, probably version 2.0.

This augurs well for the team ahead of a long and arduous season. India, thanks to 3-0 series win over the Kiwis, became the top ranked side in the world.

With India hosting England, Bangladesh and Australia coming in a long home series, the team needs someone who not only knows how to win but also plays a calming influence.

Kohli's new avatar will also help the sport survive, if at all, any unfavorable came the Indian board's way in it's tussle against the all-powerful Lodha Committee.

Besides, with Mahendra Singh Dhoni's exit from the limited overs scene all too following predicted lines, Kohli's growing maturity only adds to his profile.

The sight of Kohli sharing jokes with Gautam Gambhir was a pleasant surprise to any cricket fan. The Delhi duo were involved in an infamous fight during the 2013 edition of Indian Premier League, while representing two different franchises.

In fact, many believe that the return of Gambhir in national team after two years was only possible thanks to Kohli's change of heart. Yes, Gambhir had productive domestic season, but it's upt the skipper to approve the come-back.

Besides, the skipper was seen enjoying his leadership role — a change from the past wherein he was seen pushing the limit — during the Kiwi series.
