New Delhi: A teary-eyed Vinod Kambli being escorted off the Eden Garden's field in 1996 World Cup remains one of the lasting images from another decade in Indian cricket.
The left-hander was at the crease when the Kolkata crowd disrupted the semi-final between India and Sri Lanka, throwing bottles and pelting stones on the ground.
As crowd trouble returned to a cricket venue in India after a long gap, fans got a little nostalgic about that fateful day in Indian cricket 19 years ago.
After the disappointment of another defeat, Indian fans brought themselves some cheer by trolling good old Kambli on Twitter.
