New Delhi: India take on mighty South Africa in first of the four Test matches starting from Thursday in Mohali.

Test skipper Virat Kohli will be eager to lead the side well when both sides get on the field on Thursday. India come from series losses in T20s and ODIs against the Proteas, and the team will want to make amends in the longer format.

Mohali pitch will assist spin bowling and here is a picture on what it looks like ahead of first day's play.

The Indian players have been toiling hard in the practice sessions with fielding drills being an important aspect.

India's opening trio of Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay and KL Rahul went through some rigorous catching practice. The BCCI posted a video on Twitter of the trio undergoing catching session on Wednesday.

The first Test match begins at 9:30 am IST from Thursday.
