New Delhi: Despite not having won a Test series on Lankan soil in last two decades, expectations are high from the Indian cricket team this time as they are led by Virat Kohli, India's mercurial batsman who has performed brilliantly ever since he took over from MS Dhoni as Test captain.

And the Indian captain made his intentions to play aggressive cricket clear before leaving for Sri Lanka when he hinted on continuing with his 5-bowler strategy for the tour.

“Yeah, that could be a big possibility (playing three spinners). The idea is to take 20 wickets. That’s the only way you can win a Test. I strongly believe that you need to have your best bowlers playing in the squad. The whole idea of playing five bowlers is that the top six have to take more responsibility," Kohli said on the eve of India's departure to Sri Lanka.

Kohli also stressed over the fact that India have bowlers like Harbhajan Singh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ravichandran Ashwin who are handy with the bat as well.

While he managed to score just 14 runs in the rain-affected Test against Bangladesh, the stylish right-hander was in incredible form when India toured Australia ahead of the ICC World Cup 2015 where he accumulated 692 runs from eight innings, including four centuries.

While he has been undoubtedly India's best batsman in all formats over the years, Kohli is yet to prove his mettle as far as captaincy is concerned and he can add a big feather to his cap with a series victory in Sri Lanka.

India are scheduled to play three Tests in Sri Lanka beginning from August 12.
