Planning to catch ‘Love Khichdi’ by any chance? Well, drop it in that case for this one’s yet another sloppy romance with sloppier moments. Director Srinivas Bhashyam’s ‘Love Khichdi’ is what happens to a film when you try and stretch it too far. The film is about Vir (Randeep Hooda) and the numerous women who keep on coming and going out of his life. It is yet a metro-centric movie, quite similar to the numerous being churned out of Bollywood everyday. One good thing here, the flick is only 1 hour 30 minutes long (sigh). Let’s elaborate on the story a little, Vir, the protagonist, is a bachelor from a small town and works as a chef in a hotel in Mumbai. He is a handsome, charming but he really needs to grow up. Vir is flirtatious and is intimidated by one beautiful woman after another. From his bombastic maid Shanta Bai (Sonali Kulkarni) to the desperate Nafisa (Kalpana Pandit), a call center employee, Riya Sen (the adoloscent neighbour) and the dumb Sharmishta (Rituparna Sengupta) to the playful Parminder (Divya Dutta), Vir is interested in all women. All along, he is supported by his buddy, Sandhya (Sada), whom he takes for granted till it`s too late. ‘Love Khichdi’ was obviously made with good intentions, an attempt to recreate the lifestyle of today’s youth, but it turns out to be a dampener. Randeep struggles to add sparkle to his performance, and ends up making it rather wooden. There’s nothing interesting besides Sonali Kulkarni (with her super Marathi dialect). Rest all are ignorable. Pritam`s music is boring too. On the whole, this khichdi is easily avoidable. Verdict: Two stars.
