Kolkata: Statistical highlights of the fourth day`s play in the second cricket Test between India and the West Indies on Thursday.
West Indies have not tasted a series victory overseas in the last 15 years against a major opponent -- their only wins were against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. Their last series triumph away from home against a strong opponent was by 1-0 against New Zealand in February 1995.
India have registered their second win by an innings against the West Indies. India had won the 2002-03 Mumbai Test by an innings and 112 runs.
India`s triumph by an innings and 15 runs is their 14th against West Indies out of 87 contested -- success % 16.09 (Lost 30 and Drawn 43).
India`s superb win at Eden Gardens is their 30th by an innings margin in Tests -- their third at Eden Gardens – one each against West Indies, Australia and South Africa.
India`s win is their 75th in India in 231 Tests (Lost 49, Drawn 105 & Tied 1). Overall, India have won 112 out of 457 Tests (Lost 143, Tied 1 and Drawn 201). Success % 24.50.
India have recorded their second win in nine Tests against West Indies at Eden Gardens, Kolkata -- their first was by 85 runs in December 1974.
VVS Laxman has been adjudged the Man of the Match for the second time at Eden Gardens. He had received his first award at this venue against Australia for registering 59 & 281 in 2000-01.
Laxman has received six MoM awards in Tests – his second against West Indies. He had first received the MoM against West Indies for registering an unbeaten 69 & 74 at Port of Spain in 2001-02.
Laxman`s record in Indian wins is quite impressive, averaging 55.90 -- 3410 runs in 47 Tests, including seven hundreds.
India, for the first time, have won four series wins in a row against the West Indies -- their previous three series wins were 2-0 in 2002-03 in India; 1-0 in 2006 and 1-0 in 2011, both in the West Indies.
Darren Bravo (195) has recorded his second Test hundred -- his first against India.
Bravo`s record in Tests this year is impressive – 735 runs in nine Tests at an average of 43.23, including two centuries -- the highest by a West Indian in Tests in 2011.
Marlon Samuels (84) has recorded his second highest innings against India at Eden Gardens -- his highest is 104 in 2002-03.
Samuels` excellent 12th fifty in Tests is his third against India.
Shivnarine Chanderpaul took his runs` tally to 216 at an average of 54.00 in the current series -- the highest by a West Indian and the second highest overall, next only to VVS Laxman`s tally of 235 at an average of 235.00.
Umesh Yadav (4/80) has recorded his best bowling performance in Test cricket, surpassing the 3 for 23 in the first innings of the Kolkata Test.
Yadav`s figures of 7 for 103 are his best in a Test match. In his two Tests, Yadav has captured nine wickets at an average of 21.22.
West Indies (463) have recorded their highest total in the second innings of a Test match against India, outstripping 443 for seven declared at Kanpur in December 1958.
