Punjab innings:

Over 20 || Score 170/10

17 needed off the last over to be bowled by Kulkarni. And it’s a disastrous start to the over as Kulkarni bowls an above waist high no-ball, PK works that towards deep backward point and two runs scored. 14 needed from 6. PK defends the first ball towards covers for no run. The second ball is a slower bouncer and PK fails to make contact. Kulkarni bowls a wide, it was another slower ball bouncer which went too high. 13 needed from 4. PK smashes the next ball straight down the ground and runs two as Dhawal fails to collect the throw from Ambati Rayudu. 11 needed from 3. Kulkarni once again bowls a full-toss, PK doesn’t connect and he argues with the umpire saying that was a no-ball, 11 needed from 2. The penultimate delivery is a length ball and PK has sent that over deep midwicket for a SIX! 5 needed from 1. Kulkarni ends the over with another full-toss and this time PK has hit it straight to Tendulkar at covers! The umpires have checked for the no-ball but this time, its fine and Mumbai Indians have defeated Kings XI Punjab by 4 runs!

Excellent fight by Praveen Kumar, but he fell short by one shot as Dhawal Kulkarni bowled a barrage of full-tosses. All’s well that ends well! Mumbai can celebrate.

====================================================================================

TOSS: Rohit Sharma wins the toss and Mumbai will bat first.

David Hussey will captain Punjab today and Shaun Marsh is the replacement for Adam Gilchrist.

Mumbai Indians have finally found an explosive opener in Dwayne Smith who has got them to some good starts in the last couple of matches. Things have worked out pretty well for Mumbai ever since the team management decided to drop Ricky Ponting and Rohit Sharma was handed over the captaincy. Mumbai have won two consecutive matches since then. Lasith Malinga and Mitchell Johnson displayed one of the finest spells of seam bowling in the previous match against Royal Challengers Bangalore and even the spinners have lived up to the expectations.

Punjab on the other hand have had a mixed season so far and their major concern continues to be the form of their skipper Adam Gilchrist. The left-hander has managed to score just 94 runs from eight matches and his form at the top of the order has made the job extremely tough for the middle-order batsman. Azhar Mahmood who had a terrific 2012 hasn’t been able to live up to the expectations and as Punjab continue to struggle with a feeble Indian contingent, team management would want players like David Miller, Ryan Harris to put up with a formidable show.
