Ashwin belongs to that rare group of players that have represented only one franchise in the IPL.
The 29-year-old has been one of the most successful players for Chennai Super Kings over the years.
Ashwin was declared man of the series in the recently concluded Test series against South Africa.
His 31-wicket haul against the Proteas will weigh heavily on the minds of strategists in the Pune and Rajkot camps.
