Injury throws Praveen Kumar out of T20 WC

Bridgetown (Barbados): India will miss the service of seam bowler Praveen Kumar, who was today ruled out of the ongoing Twenty20 World Cup because of an abdominal muscle tear.

Praveen had sustained the injury during a practice session at the 3Ws Oval and the Indian team management sent him for an MRI which revealed a a tear in abdomen muscle.

Praveen, who had played both the group matches against Afghanistan and South Africa, will return home today. The BCCI is to announce a replacement for the injured bowler soon.

Karnataka`s R Vinay Kumar, who bagged 53 wicket in the domestic season and did well for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier league, could take Praveen`s slot in the eleven.
