IPL: Yuvraj Singh, Dale Steyn set to be released by franchises

New Delhi: With a two-year suspension imposed on Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, the six original franchises will drastically alter their 2016 Indian Premier League player auction strategy.

According to a report in the Mumbai Mirror, these franchises are likely to release some of their stars to make way for players from CSK and RR.

Among those that will be pushed into the auction include Dale Steyn from Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Daredevils's Yuvraj Singh and Dinesh Karthik from Royal Challengers Bangalore).

Yuvraj attracted a bid of Rs 16 crore, while Karhik was bought at Rs 12.5. Both players failed to deliver for their respective teams.

Steyn cost SRH Rs 9.5 crore. Hence by not retaining him, that amount will be available to them to buy new players. Moreover, Trent Boult was preferred over him in the 2015 edition of the league by SRH.

Another international cricketer who is likely to be released is King XI Punjab's Gerorge Bailey.

The Punjab franchise is also set to release Beuran Hendricks, Thishara Perera, Parvinder Awana and Shivam Sharma.
