Indian Premier League 2016, Match 40: Rising Pune Supergiants vs Sunrisers Hyderabad — As it happened...

Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday defended a low total of 137 runs to climb at the top of Indian Premier League table, and send Rising Pune Supergiants crashing, virtually, out of the ninth edition of cash-rich Twenty20 cricket league at Visakhapatnam.

Hyderabad, thus, also became the first team to successfully defend after electing to bat this season. Playing at Pune's second home ground at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad innings was rocked by the second best IPL bowling figures of all time.

Adam Zampa's 6 for 19 restrict Hyderabad innings to 137/8, but the total proved little beyond Pune's reach, losing by four runs. Besides, Hyderabad's 137 is the lowest total defended in this IPL, improving on Kings XI Punjab's 154 against Gujarat Lions.

Pune have won three games from their 11 matches so far, as against Hyderabad's seven from 10.

Needing 14 runs from the last over, Ashish Nehra took two wickets, and the run out to send back Mahendra Singh Dhoni, conceding nine runs.

As usual, David Warner utilised Mustafizur Rahman in the death, and the Bangladeshi talent's 17th and 19th over proved the difference between the two sides.
