RPS vs KKR, Match 20: Mahendra Singh Dhoni breaks unwanted Indian Premier League record

New Delhi: Since its inception in 2008, MS Dhoni has been the Indian Premier League's most successful captain.

Under his leadership, the now suspended Chennai Super Kings emerged as the most consistent franchise in the cash-rich league.

This season however, has not gone according to plan for the wicketkeeper-batsman.

Dhoni's new team, Rising Pune Supergiants, have lost four and won 1 of their last 5 games in the league.

The Pune team is currently languishing at 7th position and is bound to miss out on the play-offs unless there is a drastic improvement in their performance.

After Pune's last-over defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday, Dhoni earned himself a rather unwanted record.

It was the first time in IPL history that Mahi captained his side to four consecutive defeats. With Chennai, the maximum games he lost on the trot were three games.

Several experts questioned Dhoni's strategy against KKR, as he gave himself just 17 balls to face during the RPS innings.

Though he batted impressively, scoring 23 off 12 balls, many felt Dhoni could have done more damage had he promoted himself up the order.
