IPL 8: Robin Uthappa, Glenn Maxwell yet to fire with willow

New Delhi: Kolkata Knight Riders' Robin Uthappa and Kings XI Punjab's foreign player Glenn Maxwell set the stage on fire in the Indian Premier League's last season with their blistering batting.

Where, Maxwell's flashy blade stole the entire show in season 7, Uthappa's classic and consistent batting was also on display, which earned him accolades from all the corners.

While Robbie accumulated 660 runs last season in 16 innings, maintaining an astonishing average of 44, with the help of five fifties to finish as the highest run-scorer of the season, Maxi held the third slot with 552 runs, with a staggering strike rate of over 187.

However, this season both the batsmen haven't done anything noteworthy thus far with the bat, and have looked a pale shadow of their former selves.

Maxwell who smacked 36 sixes, most by a player last season, has only scored 7, 6, 15 and 33 in the four matches KXIP have played so far. While Uthappa, who was the leading boundary scorer, with 74 fours last time, has only managed to score 9, 35 and 13 in the on-going season.

Season 8 of the cash-rich league is still in its initial stages. So one can expect, these two to get back into the groove soon and hit the bowlers all over the park to entertain the cricket fans with their murderous batting style.
