MCA moves Supreme Court for organizing Indian Premier League matches in state as per original schedule

New Delhi: The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and Maharashtra Cricket Association on Thursday knocked on Supreme Court's door in a bid to host Indian Premier League matches in Maharashtra as per the original schedule.

According to a report in the Indian Express, the two cricket bodies filed a joint Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the apex court regarding the same.

Earlier, the Bombay High Court ordered the BCCI to move IPL matches out of the drought-hit state post April 30 due to water crisis.

Mumbai Indians play their home games in at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium, while MS Dhoni's Rising Pune Supergiants host their home games at Pune’s Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.

Maharashtra Cricket Association president Ajay Shirke and Mumbai Cricket Association joint secretary Unmesh Khanvilkar confirmed to the newspaper that a SLP has been filed and they were hoping that the SC would address their concerns.

The apex court is expected to hear MCA's plea on Monday.
