New Delhi: With captaincy comes responsibility. We have seen many outstanding cricketers suffering huge slump in form after being given the charge to lead a side, irrespective of the format. But it seems, everything is falling in place for Australian Steve Smith.

Smith's batting flourished when he took the reins of Australian Test side in the recent series against India. He not only lead the side successfully but also amassed 769 runs in the four matches of the Border-Gavaskar series, with the help of four hundreds and two fifties.

The prodigious batsman has been given the responsibility to lead the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Rajasthan Royals (RR) after their regular skipper Shane Watson was sidelined due to an injury.

Thus far, RR have performed exceptionally well under their stand-in skipper. They are right at the top of the points table having won all the three matches they have played so far in the League.

In their last match against Mumbai, Smith himself stood tall and played an unbeaten match-winning knock of 79. The innings reflects his cool and calm approach even in this frenetic T20 cricket.

After having an exceptional Australian summer, the 25-year-old has carried his form into the IPL as well, which is a good sign for his franchise.
