Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium

The Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium has been holding first class matches since late of 2008.

Capacity: 28,000

The Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, also known as Khandheri Cricket Stadium (Lion's Den, because of the new IPL team Gujarat Lions) is a cricket stadium in Rajkot, India.

Interestingly, it is Gujarat's first solar powered stadium.

Initially, the stadium was used for Ranji Trophy matches. Now with the stands completed, the ground has a capacity of holding 28,000 fans.

Also the stadium is a part of a larger sports complex that include venues for other sports such as badminton, basketball, and volleyball. Saurashtra Cricket Association matches will be held here.

The stadium hosted its first One Day International match on January 11, 2013, when India played England in a D/N ODI. It also hosted a T20I in 2013 between India and Australia.

The stadium was also selected by the BCCI in 2015 to host Test matches.

Five matches of the team Gujarat Lions will be played at Rajkot of the ninth edition of IPL.
