Barbados: Martin Guptill going unsold at the recent IPL auction was one of the biggest talking points of the event. But the Kiwi, who has been in red hot form lately in all formats, on Thursday bagged a nice deal at the auction of Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

The right-hander, who went unsold at the IPL auction with a base price of INR 50 lakh, was sold for US$130,000 (NZ$194,000) at the draft for the CPL 2016 which was held in Barbados, along with Brendon McCullum who fetched the same amount at the auction.

The Kiwi duo was picked up in the second round after the opening round was dominated by local stars Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo who both got US$160,000 (NZ$240,000).

The four other marquee overseas players at the auction were South Africa's AB de Villiers (Barbados Tridents) and Faf du Plessis (St Kitts & Nevis Patriots), Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara (Jamaica Tallawahs), and Australia' Shane Watson (Zouks).

There were six overseas marquee players in the draft and here is how they fared:

AB de Villiers - Barbados Tridents ($130,000).

Martin Guptill - Guyana Amazon Warriors ($130,000).

Brendon McCullum - Trinbago Knight Riders ($130,000).

Shane Watson - St. Lucia Zouks ($130,000).

Kumar Sangakkara - Jamaica Tallawahs ($130,000).

Faf du Plessis - St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots ($130,000).
