Nathan Lyon to introduce mystery delivery against England

New Delhi: Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon claimed that he has developed a mystery delivery ahead of the high-profile Ashes series against their traditional rivals England, according to reports.

The 27-year-old will be taking part in his third Ashes series and is confident that with as many as seven left-handers in the England squad, he will be able to dictate terms.

Earlier this month, Lyon became Australia's most successful off-break bowler during their 2-0 Test series win over West Indies. He bettered Hugh Trumble’s 111-year-old record of 141 wickets.

The New South Wales cricketer has been working on his new weapon for the last two years and called it "Square Jeff", purportedly making it a relative to his "Jeff" delivery which he introduced in 2012, by dismissing South Africa batsman Jacques Rudolph.

"Jeff's still here I've got a couple of Jeffs now. He's still in the right-hand pocket that's for sure... I've got one in the left-hand pocket now. It's the square Jeff," he was quoted as saying.

"There's a couple of differences, you'll just have to wait and see," he added.

The first Test match of the series starts in Cardiff on 8 July. Australia are looking to win their first Ashes series on British soil since 2001.
