New Zealand are well ahead but with a day's play already lost, they would be singing "Rain, rain go away; the lovely Kiwis want to play...", but that's for tomorrow.
For now, the covers stay on and the players stay off. New Zealand end the day 235 runs ahead.
==================================================================================== NEW ZEALANDOvers: 108 II Score: 402/7Lead by 235 runs RAIN: After a washed-out first day, some good bowling by the Kiwis and disastrous batting by the English led to the visitors being skittled out for a paltry 167 in the first innings. The Kiwi openers started strongly and ended Day 2 with the score on 131/0.
Day 3 has been Hamish Rutherford`s day as he smashed his way to a quick-fire 171 (off 217 balls) even as others around him failed to really wrest the initiative. Brendon McCullum is looking good though as he remains unbeaten at the crease on a sturdy 44, while Bruce Martin is unbeaten on 17 at the other end. The play has been delayed due to bad light as we enter the final session of the day.
