SCORECARD» | COMMENTARY» ==================================================================================== 1st innings South Africa Over 49 || Score 148/3 STUMPS: Even though Pakistan have managed to pick three wicket, it was certainly South Africa’s day after their bowlers bundled out a clueless Pakistani batting line-up for just 99 runs. Proteas skipper Smith is unbeaten on 67 at the crease and South Africa now lead by 29 runs with seven wickets in hand. Earlier, Jacques Kallis was flummoxed by Saeed Ajmal as he was out lbw to a delivery that spun sharply and hit him on the pads. Smith and Kallis added 28 runs for the third wicket. Wicket: JH Kallis lbw b Saeed Ajmal 7 (30b) ==================================================================================== Over 40 || Score 117/2 Saeed Ajmal once again got the much-needed breakthrough for Pakistan when Azhar Ali took an excellent catch at short leg while Elgar was looking to defend. That wicket ended the 54-run partnership between skipper Graeme Smith and Elgar. Elgar would be disappointed with that dismissal as he was looking set to play a big knock. The legendary Jacques Kallis is the new man in. No boundaries were scored in this duration and 17 runs were scored. Pakistan got an early wicket in form of Alviro Petersen. Babar appealed for lbw and Petersen went for an unsuccessful review. The ball hit pad first before hitting the inside edge. Dean Elgar is the new batsman. South Africa will have no difficulty in taking the lead in this match. By the 20th over, they trailed by 39 runs with 9 wickets remaining. ==================================================================================== Over 10 || Score 37/0 Graeme Smith and Alviro Petersen will open the Proteas batting. Mohammad Irfan and Junaid Khan will begin the bowling attack. The Pakistani bowlers have a tough task ahead. Pakistan either need early wickets or a hope that the South African batsmen bat really bad. The first 10 overs sailed smoothly for the South Africans without loss of any wickets. ==================================================================================== 1st innings Pakistan Over 36.4 || Score 99 The South Africans have packed off Pakistan under 100 runs. The Pak batsmen came crumbling down post –lunch session. The lower order could add only 39 runs to the scoreboard before they were sent back to the pavilion. Saeed Ajmal was the 7th wicket to go. He was run out on zero. Asad Shafiq was joined by Zulfikar Babar at the crease before being bowled out by Imran Tahir. Shafiq was Tahir’s fourth victim in the 32nd over. Tahir completed his five-wicket haul in the same over. His fifth wicket was that of Mohammad Irfan. The delivery clipped the top of Irfan’s front pad, and then hit the off stump. The scoreboard read 76/9. The last wicket partnership took the tally to 99. In the 37th over, Steyn took his 3rd wicket. The good lenth ball hit the middle stump and Junaid Khan was out. The bowlers have done the job for Proteas, who will now be looking forward to register their win in the series which they are already traling by 0-1. Pakistan have lost 4 wickets in quick succession and the Pakistan’s middle order is badly shaken. First, it was Shan Masood who was bowled by Imran Tahir in the 21st over. Tahir’s full length delivery went wide outside off stump. Masood went forward to drive the ball but hit it thorough the inside edge which hit the stumps. Dale took his second wicket in form of Younis Khan. Steyn bowled a full ball outside off stump in the 25th over. Younis pushed it and AB de Villiers took an easy catch. Just two deliveries after Khan’s departure, it was skipper Misbah-ul Haq’s turn to go. In the 26th over, Tahir’s delivery hit Misbah on the pad. He went for an unsuccessful review. Imran Tahir was on the go. In the same over, new batsman on crease Adnan Akmal was packed off to the pavilion. The leg stumps were clipped off by Tahir and Adnan was out without opening his account. Pakistan have lost 5 wickets for 22 runs. The pre-lunch session has been disastrous for Pakistan. Imran Tahir and Mornie Morkel come into the bowling attack. South Africa get their second wicket. It seems trouble is brewing for Pakistan. Morkel bowled full length and Azhar came forward to play it across the line. Azhar called for a review but to no avail. Younis Khan is the new batsman. South Africa have got an early breakthrough. Khurram Manzoor goes for a duck. Pakistan lose a wicket without opening their account. Dale Steyn has struck. The full length delivery by Steyn had extra swing on the new wicket, and Faf du Plessis missed no chance to take the catch at gully. Azhar Ali is the new batsman at crease. Vernon Philander is bowling from the other end. Steyn and Philander are maintaining the pressure on Pakistan.
