Sydney: Australian fast bowler James Pattinson is hopeful of a late come back during his team’s triangular one-day series with India and Sri Lanka.
He was sidelined from the Australian Test squad for the last two test matches against India due to a foot injury and he believes he is just three weeks away from making a return to competitive cricket.
Pattinson has targeted Australia’s match against India on February 19 at the Gabba for his comeback. This would give him four matches to strike top form before the best-of-three finals series, which starts in Brisbane on March 4.
“My recovery is going really well at the moment. I’m about three weeks away from coming back. My foot is feeling good. I’m back running and doing some bowling,” said Pattinson.
“I’ll hopefully be back for the one-day international series about halfway through it, about the fifth one-dayer. Hopefully we can get into the finals and I’ll be right for them,” he added.
Despite earning good success in the Test cricket, Pattinson has only played two one-day internationals till date and will have to compete with Brett Lee, Clint McKay and Mitchell Starc for a position in the team.
