Islamabad: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Zaka Ashraf has said the Indian team would be visiting the country soon to play one-day and Twenty20 international matches.
Ashraf announced this news on the eve of his Mirpur Stadium visit, which is situated in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, and added that the bilateral series between the neighbouring countries will help encourage cricket in the region.
Pakistan would also visit India in December to play three One-dayers and two T20 matches, Ashraf added.
Top PCB officials including director of academies, Javed Miandad, Intikhab Alam and Col (retd) Noushad Ahmad accompanied Ashraf during the visit.
Zaka recalled that cricket gave the message of friendship between the neighbours Pakistan and India in the past as well and the International Cricket Council (ICC) has formally approved the bilateral series between the two nations.
The PCB chief pointed out that President Asif Ali Zardari took a great initiative to encourage and promote friendly relations between Pakistan and India, and added that the ICC was taking keen interest for the revival of international cricket in Pakistan.
Ashraf said the Pakistani and Indian governments were seeking good friendly relations through promoting people-to-people contact, trade and sports relations.
The PCB chairman also admitted that no doubt there were security issues in Pakistan, but reiterated that the government was unwavering in its attempts to provide foolproof security to the international teams.
Ashraf also added that the cricket was being promoted across the country at the grass roots and regional level.
