Bangalore, May 19: R Madhavan is overjoyed that his thriller "13B" has got an official entry to the 12th Shanghai International Film Festival and is looking forward to attending the event next month.
"I am going to Shanghai along with the film`s debutant director Vikram K. Kumar for the screening of the film. `13B` was a successful film, which attracted huge critical acclaim," Madhavan, who is on a holiday with his family in Bangkok, told reporters.
The Tamil version of "13B", called "Yavarum Nalam", also turned out to be a hit.
"Even the Tamil version of the film released simultaneously is a big success in Tamil Nadu. It is still running in many centres. I am happy that the film will be viewed by the international audience in this prestigious film festival of Asia," Madhavan said.
"13B" revolves around a television set that creates havoc in the life of the hero by showing on screen real events that are going to happen to his family. The film also stars Neetu Chandra.
"The critical acclaim and the commercial success of `13B` proves that content and creativity are more important than the cost of the film," the actor added.
Stressing that the success of "13B" belongs to everyone who had worked on the film, Madhavan said he hoped the Shanghai festival would lead to more international recognition coming its way.
The southern superstar, who has acted in Bollywood films like "Rang De Basanti" and "Guru", said he had just finished a long shooting schedule for the Hindi film "Teen Patti" in London and wanted to take a break with his family members in Bangkok before heading to Shanghai.
"I will be returning to Chennai in the month-end and make preparations for going to the Shanghai International Film Festival," said Madhavan.
In director Leena Yadav`s "Teen Patti", Madhavan is cast along with superstar Amitabh Bachchan and Hollywood actor Ben Kingsley.
The nine-day Shanghai fest, to be held June 13-21, has a broad theme of thrillers and suspense films. Apart from 10 movies by master director Alfred Hitchcock, six films of French actress Isabelle Huppert would also be screened.
