Barbados: Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has become the first international cricketer to sign up for the Carribean Premiere League. Ponting has been in terrific form in the Australian Sheffield Shield with three centuries including a double. The 38-year-old will play for Surrey for the first two months of the county season and then travel to West Indies for the T20 league. Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, St Lucia and Trinidad & Tobago are the teams that will be competing in the CPL. Ponting’s presence will be a huge boost to the CPL as it looks to compete with the IPL and the Big Bash.
