Prabir Mukherjee: Former Eden Gardens' curator passes away at 86

New Delhi: Eden Gardens' renowned curator Prabir Mukherjee passed away on Tuesday at the age of 86 at his home in Kolkata.

The Board of Cricket for Control in India (BCCI) confirmed the news through its official account on Twitter.

The 86-year-old was suffering from liver problems for quite some time.

Mukherjee was in charge of the Eden Gardens for over two decades.

In one of the rare incidents, he refused MS Dhoni's request to produce spin-friendly track during England's tour of India in 2012.

His last assignment at the Eden Gardens was for a Twenty20 International between India and South Africa in October last year. The match was called off due to rain and he had a fallout with the CAB after its treasurer Biswarup Dey blamed the curator for the fiasco.
