Ravi Shastri does not want any interference from high-profile advisory committee: Report

New Delhi: Former India skipper Ravi Shastri's fate as Team India Director is yet to be decided but according to a report, in case if his contract is extended, he would not like any interference from the newly-formed high-profile BCCI advisory committee comprising the big guns of Indian cricket.

It is learnt that Shastri would not want anyone — not even the advisory panel of Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman — to interfere, according to a report published in The New Indian Express.

“Shastri felt that if he were given a two-year contract, he would like to run the team his way and would obviously won’t want someone else interfering in policy decisions,” an official told the newspaper.

“Shastri was very particular on having complete freedom and didn’t want any board matters to affect his role,” added the official.

As per the report, it is also learnt that former all-rounder had informed the board before taking up the Bangladesh assignment to not consider his name if he was not in the scheme of things for a longer duration.

It would be a big headache for BCCI in future if they find themselves in such a situation as they have formed the advisory committee to guide players and help BCCI in taking crucial decisions.
