Meanwhile, England dropped three catches that could have been crucial for game today. The third catch was dropped by Michael Carberry, who missed a chance to dismiss Haddin off Panesar’s delivery in the 88th over. Bailey played a wonderful innings scoring his first test half-century before falling out to Stuart Broad. In the third delivery of the 86th over, the short pitched delivery was shot straight to Swann at square leg who took an excellent catch to send Bailey back to the pavilion. Clarke is at 48 runs off 99 balls while Haddin is at 7 runs off 21 balls. Bailey c Swann b Broad 53 (93b, 4x4, 3x6) ==================================================================================== Over 75 || Score 218/4 After quick fall of wickets, Bailey and Clarke are carrying out an important partnership for Australia. Meanwhile, the English bowlers are not leaking many runs, giving the batsmen only singles and doubles. Cook and Co are using all tactics to get more wickets. Reverse swing and spin is working for them. Bailey and Clarke know the importance of their respective wickets, so they are playing the shots cautiously. England lost two chances to get wickets. First Bailey got lucky, Off Panesar’s 65th over, Bailey hit the ball straight on the track but the ball bounced and Monty missed the catch. In the 71st over, the Aussie skipper got lucky. Off Swann’s first delivery of the over, Clarke hit the ball towards mid-wicket straight to Joe Root, who dived in to take the catch but missed it. Bens Stokes replaced Broad in the 74th over. Bailey is at 28 runs off 60 balls including two fours and one six. Steven Smith is out. George Bailey will join Captain Clarke at the crease after tea break. Off Panesar’s third delivery of 59th over, the last before tea break, Smith tried to defend the ball but it clipped the off stump and he returned back. England look delighted. Three runs off the over. Broad conceded a maiden 42nd. Three runs off Monty’s next. In the third delivery of the 44th, Rogers hit a lovely four to bring up his fifty. A maiden 45th by Monty. Seven runs off Broad’s 46th that included a boundary by Watson. Watson hit the ball straight to the fine leg boundary for four runs. Swann conceded two runs in his 47th over. The 49th over brought up Watson’s half century. The bowling change in the next over did not work for Watson. After a maiden 50th over, Anderson struck. In the 53rd over, Watson was out. Watson went for a straight drive but the ball bounced and landed straight in the hands of the bowler. Right in Swann’s next over, Rogers followed his partner back to the pavilion. The ball hit the inside edge of Roger’s willow and wicket-keeper Prior did not miss a chance to take the catch. Australia has seen fall of two wickets in quick succession in last five overs. The steady partnership was broken and two new batsmen - Skipper Michael Clarke and Steven Smith - are at crease. England have not managed another breakthrough after Warner’s departure. Chris Rogers and Shane Watson are sealing their partnership and going steady. One run off Panesar’s over. Swann continued with the next over, conceding just a single. The duo leaked just one or two runs in next five overs giving no chance to the batsmen to hit big shots, not that the batsman were in a hurry. Off Panesar’s fourth delivery in the 26th over, a huge lbw appeal was made for Chris Rogers. The umpire was not in the favour so the England captain decided to go for a review. But the ball would have not hit more than 50% of the leg stump. Unsuccessful review for England! Rogers and Watson managed a couple of boundaries in the next two overs. Ben Stokes on his bowling debut began the 31st over. The second delivery of his over was hit for a boundary by Watson. In the next over, Watson sealing his form, hit a massive six off Panesar’s delivery. By the end of 40 overs, Australia had managed a decent score of 118 runs at the loss of one wicket. Joe Root has been brought up the order to replace Jonathan Trott at number three. The Aussie squad remains unchanged. David Warner and Chris Rogers opened the innings for Australia while James Anderson began the bowling attack. Stuart Broad shared the new ball with Anderson. Right in the first ten overs, England got their first breakthrough. David Warner was on a roll, and played a knock of 29 runs off 32 balls. Warner hit a poor shot, and sent an easy catch to Carberry at point off Broad's delivery. Shane Watson was the new man in. Graeme Swann was introduced in the 13th over. After rain halted play for a short while, an early lunch was taken and the play resumed. Adelaide: The first Ashes Test at Brisbane had its share of excitement and frenzy. England suffered one of their worst Test defeats, Johnson’s swift bouncers blew away English batsmen, sledging was at its peak while Jonathan Trott exited unceremoniously citing depression.
