REVEALED: Why Mohammad Azharuddin played with his collar up and batted with white helmet

New Delhi: Mohammad Azharuddin belongs to that rare category of players that are remembered beyond their numbers.

Even today, fans often recollect a few things about his on-field avatar. His locket, walking style, white helmet and collar are things fans still haven't forgotten.

During the promotional spree for his movie Azhar, the stylish right-hander revealed reasons behind some of his habits.

“While fielding at point, I used to have problems in my neck skin because of the exposure to the sun. Hence, I decided to raise my collar as protection and it became a habit,” he told  Fever 104 FM.

Azhar also disclosed the reason behind batting with a white helmet.

“I had a liking for white helmet since we used it a lot during playing Tests. And since there was no compulsion of using a blue helmet, I played with a white one,” he further added.
