Pune: A day after threatening to resign as the BCCI Treasurer over N Srinivasan`s stance on Gurunath Meiyappan, Ajay Shirke on Friday refused to deliberate further on the raging controversy and the demand for resignation of the Cricket Board President.
Spot-fixing in IPL: Full Coverage» "I have spoken to the media at great length over the last two days and I had made my stand very clear. I think I have no further appearances to make to the media. I have clarified my position and all that has been said. I don`t need to make any further clarification. Whatever I have said is very abundantly clear and known to public at large," he told reporters here. Slamming Srinivasan for not calling a meeting of the Board to discuss his son-in-law Meiyappan`s arrest on betting charges, Shirke had yesterday announced that he was mulling quitting from his post on the issue. Shirke, who had called for Srinivasan`s resignation on moral grounds, said he will wait and see for a few days before taking a decision. Shirke did not entertain any question on Srinivasan or the spot-fixing scandal and also refused to speak on the issue of various state associations demanding BCCI chief`s resignation. "You are already aware of the development. You know what they have said. I have already made my position clear. I would not like to make any further statement to the media. I have nothing personal to add to my position. It`s against my nature to come in front of the media every time. I stick to my stand which I had made it clear yesterday," he added. Despite mounting pressure from within the BCCI and from outside, Srinivasan has dug into his heels and remained defiant, insisting that he had done nothing wrong and hence would not resign. PTI
