Johannesburg: South African batsman Quinton de Kock may reportedly miss out the third Test against Australia at Cape Town with his teammate Alviro Petersen likely to return to the team for the deciding Test.
Petersen was withdrawn from last week`s Test in Port Elizabeth after picking up a virus, although he has since recovered and should open the batting alongside skipper Graeme Smith, with Dean Elgar taking De Kock`s place in the middle order. According to Sport24, De Kock scored seven and 34 in Port Elizabeth, where he debuted, batting in the unaccustomed position of No 6 and did not keep wicket while Elgar, who opened in place of Petersen, scored 83 and 16 in his two knocks at St George`s Park. Meanwhile, spinner Robin Peterson is likely to miss out again with the hosts expected to go with a four-man pace attack, added by the spin-options of JP Duminy and Elgar. With left-arm seamer Wayne Parnell out with a groin strain, either Rory Kleinveldt, Kyle Abbott or Ryan McLaren will get a chance, the report added.
