London: `Paper Planes` hitmaker MIA may be juggling her musical career with motherhood but the Sri Lanka born rapper says that the new responsibilities have made her a better musician. The 32-year-old who was nominated for an Oscar along with Indian maestro AR Rahman for their track `O Saaya` from `Slumdog Millionaire` said that she used to procastinate earlier but is a lot more focussed on her work now, reported Contactmusic.
"In order to make music, I kind of have to feel some sort of hardship. I`ve always found it easier to create when you`re just sort of left on your own to deal with your own mess. And I think having a baby makes me a lot more focused in terms of time," the singer said. She has been juggling music with her role as a full-time mother and has flourished because she has to create results in a short span of time. "Before, if I had a year to make music, then I have to do it in a shorter space of time now. If I got to spend 24 hours in the studio earlier I would sleep in it and be in it and eat in it and now I know that that`s not possible because I have to have my baby down there," said the rapper who has made news when she performed at the Grammys the day she was due to deliver her baby. MIA whose real name is Maya Arulpragasam gave birth to baby son Ikhyd with fiance, Seagram`s heir Benjamin Brewer, in February this year. Bureau Report
