Struggling Virat Kohli seeks help from mentor Sachin Tendulkar

New Delhi: Following a forgettable tour to England, flamboyant Indian right-hander Virat Kohli headed to Mumbai to work on his flaws under the watchful supervision of Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar.

Kohli, who was repeatedly dismissed as a result of the off-stump line by English pacers James Anderson and Stuart Broad, on Thursday had a rigorous training session under the former batting legend at the Mumbai Cricket Association's (MCA) indoor training facility.

Lalchand Rajput, who is the batting coach of Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) special academy, was present at the Bandra-Kurla Complex where Kohli trained.

Speaking to a leading English daily, Rajput said, “Virat was here for an intense session today. Sachin was present too. He is going to come in for practice over the next two-three days as well.”

Rajput asked the Mumbai under-23 bowlers to stick to an off-stump line against the 25-year-old, who looked vulnerable at the beginning. Tendulkar closely watched Kohli play and was seen offering plenty of advice.

The 25-year-old, who has been the backbone of the Indian batting line-up of late, had a miserable five-match Test series against England where he averaged 13.40. Even in the ODIs, he couldn't do much with the bat and it was only in the lone T20I where he slammed his first half-century of the series.

If reports are to be believed, dashing left-hander Yuvraj Singh too dropped at the academy to improve his batting skills.

The Little Master might no more be a part of international cricket, but having played for over two decades, Tendulkar's advice could do wonders to India's struggling batsmen.
