Stuart MacGill looking forward to play in Indian Premier League

Melbourne: Former Australian leg-spinner Stuart MacGill has revealed that he has applied for an auction to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament.

``I never got to play in India, and I figure, having played a couple of games of Twenty20 cricket now, I know I can do it. I don`t get too sore, I know I can run around enough. It`s worth a go. I`m not going to be doing it in five years` time, am I? I thought I might as well put my name forward,`` The Sydney Morning Herald quoted MacGill, as saying. ``I didn`t even know if they`d accept me into the action, to be honest. I`m 40. It was basically just to see if I could,`` he added. MacGill,40, is currently playing for Sydney Sixers in the Australia’s Big Bash League and his stellar performance of 2-21 against Brisbane Heat has suggested that he is fit to compete in the Indian Premier League. Australian spin king Shane Warne, who played four seasons in the IPL with the Rajasthan Royals, said MacGill could be a success in the Indian tournament. ``He`ll go well. Some of the 50-yard boundaries that I`ve experienced the last four years aren`t ideal. When they top-edge a sweep and it goes 10 rows back, it ain`t ideal. But it is good fun over there. And I think that`s what we`re trying to replicate here,`` Warne added. ANI
