Shane Watson produced a solid all-round performance as Australia launched their campaign in the ICC World Twenty20 with a seven-wicket thrashing of Ireland here on Wednesday.

Here is how the game panned out...

Over 8: AUS 64/1 Mike Hussey 2(3) - Shane Watson 29 (22) OUT!!! David Warner gone, wicket for George Dockrell, it was flighted delivery, Warner used his feet and flicked it towards deep mid where a diving Kevin O’Brian took a good catch.

Over 4: AUS 40/0 David Warner* 11 (12) - Shane Watson 24 (12) 19 runs off the Trent Johnston over as Watson hammered the veteran for two FOURS and a SIX after Warner had earned himself a boundary off a powerful drive in the first over.

Over 1: AUS 6/0 Chasing a modest total of 123, David Warner and Shane Watson scored 6 runs in the first over. David Warner got a four courtesy a pull.

Over 20: IRE 123/7 Ireland set Australia a target of 124 runs to win the second match of the ongoing Twenty20 World Cup at Colombo on Wednesday.

Over 17.1: IRE 101/7 Mitchell Starc got his second with a perfect yorker. Trent Johnston b Starc 7(7) [4s-1]

Over 14.6: 86/6 Kevin O'Brien out!! Slower bouncer from Shane Watson, Kevin tried to upper-cut it but edged behind. Kevin O'Brien c Wade b Shane Watson 35(29) [4s-5]

Over 0.1: Shane Watson claimed the first wicket off first ball of the innings. Porterfield tried to pull a short delivery, got a top edge and the ball went flying straight to fine leg. Starc made no mistake. Porterfield c Starc b Shane Watson 0(1)

Earlier, Ireland won the toss and decided to bat against Australia in the second match of ongoing Twenty20 World Cup.
