Mumbai, June 10: Imtiaz Ali doesn’t believe in taking breaks it seems. Even as his directorial film, ‘Love Aaj Kal’ awaits release, the taskmaster, known for his blockbuster hit ‘Jab We Met’, is busy planning his next work. And in keeping with his superstar cast brigade, the director has roped in ‘youngistaan’ hottie Ranbir Kapoor for his forthcoming film.
And it’s not just any other film for which Ali has roped in the Kapoor lad, but for a project much closer to his heart. After three years of planning and shuffling dates, the hit churner is now all set to make his film ‘Rockstar’ with Ranbir playing the main lead.
Buzz has it that the flick was initially designed for John Abraham in 2006 but the idea was shelved immediately. Insiders suggest that Imtiaz wanted to make ‘Rockstar’ with John immediately after ‘Socha Na Tha’. He had even put one of his films titled ‘Geet’ (Jab We Met) on hold for ‘Rockstar’. He also had several sessions with Rockstar`s music director AR Rahman, who had composed a few songs for the film. But due to a series of events the film never took off.
However, after several failed attempts, the film will now see the light of the day. Commenting on reviving the film with Ranbir, Imtiaz said, “I met Ranbir and we discussed the possibility of working together. However, we have not zeroed in on any subject just as I haven’t done with Hrithik either.”
