VVS Laxman rested for second Test

Bangalore: VVS Laxman, hero of India`s Mohali Test win against Australia, was on Saturday rested for the second match as he has not recovered from back spasm he suffered during the series-opener.

The stylish Hyderabadi, a known Australian nemesis, had braved severe back pain while crafting India`s dramatic one-wicket win over the Australians with his unbeaten 73-run knock.

India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni had said Laxman was recovering fast but the team management today decided to rest the middle-order batsman.

Saurashra batsman Cheteshwar Pujara replaced Laxman in the side.
