Katy Perry to be `American Idol` judge

Pop star Katy Perry will join former spice girl Victoria Beckham to be guest just on hit US music reality show `American Idol`.

London: Pop star Katy Perry will join former spice girl Victoria Beckham to be guest just on hit US music reality show `American Idol`.The `I Kissed A Girl` singer has confirmed as a guest judge on the new series of the show, Sun online reported.
Her arrival comes after singer Paula Abdul announced she was quitting the reality series, following arguments about her pay. Idol`s bosses are now drafting in a host of female artists, including Perry and Posh, to fill her place as auditions kick off on August 9. Perry performed on the last series of the show, which saw Kris Allen win the top prize. Producers insist they are still looking for a permanent fourth judge to replace Abdul when the ninth season of the show returns to TV in early 2010. Since Abdul announced she was leaving her post, via her Twitter page, former Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe has said he wants to get her on his rival show, `So You Think You Can Dance?`. Bureau Report
