West Indies vs India: After incredible success in limited-overs cricket, time for Virat Kohli to shine in Tests

New Delhi: Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli has been a run-machine in limited-overs cricket since the beginning of this year.

From India's tour to Australia, to Asia Cup 2016, to ICC World Twenty20, the Delhi batsman has been in sublime form where he has shattered numerous records while scaling new heights.

Even in the Indian Premier League, Kohli single-handedly took Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final where the team lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The cricket cognoscenti has fallen short of adjectives to describe Kohli's brilliant run this year.

On Thursday, the Indian cricket team will play their first Test of the year against West Indies.

Last year, Under Kohli's captaincy, India performed brilliantly during their tour to Sri Lanka, as well as during the home series against South Africa, which they comprehensively won 3-0.

The challenge for Kohli would be to maintain the winning momentum even while playing away from home.

What would be interesting to see, is whether Kohli, along with new coach Anil Kumble, can end India's overseas woes.

While the Windies have been struggling to get their team combination right, India have several in-form players at their disposal, especially batsmen, who can make life miserable for the West Indies bowlers.

India's only concern, would be the form of their pacers, who have struggled to dismiss their opponents twice, while playing in whites away from home.

The first Test between the two teams is scheduled to be played today at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua (7:30 IST).
