New Delhi: Indian selector Sandeep Patil stated on Saturday, that Yuvraj Singh has always been special as a player.

The selectors on Saturday felt it was the right time for the 2011 World Cup hero Yuvraj, to get back in the side given his form which has been consistent in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Yuvraj was selected in the T20 squad for the upcoming series against Australia starting January 6.

 

He missed out on the ODI team though but nonetheless his return is seen as a last roll of the dice from BCCI's end.

Patil said that the skipper MS Dhoni, is happy to have him back.

Sandeep also stated that the Australia tour will give chance to look at other players.

Ashish Nehra had a good outing at the Indian Premier League in 2015 with the Chennai Super Kings and the veteran bowler found himself in the T20 squad.

 

Patil said that Nehra has been consistent in the T20 format and will be useful in the side.

The selection of Yuvraj and Nehra for the T20 series has been kept in mind with the upcoming 2016 ICC World Cup in March.

It highlights the fact that India needs experienced players in the T20 World Cup besides just youngsters.
