Delhi Dynamos-NorthEast United FC game could break attendance record at JLN

The tie is expected to witness a flurry of supporters.

New Delhi: Following their impressive performance against Atletico de Kolkata, tickets for Delhi Dynamos' next ISL home game against Northeast United FC are fast selling out.

With fans of the Lions lapping up their team's good performance this season and the traditionally football-crazy Highlanders sure to turn up in droves, the Dynamos-Northeast clash looks to break attendance record at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on November 3.

Fans of both sides have been buying tickets in large numbers for the highly anticipated clash. A NEUFC fan Dani Nobin said, "As soon as the tickets were available for this game, we bought 24 tickets for our group of friends. I know many who will be attending the match in groups of 20s and 30s.

We are going all-out in supporting our team."

Delhi Dynamos are second on the points table behind FC Pune City with a game in hand, and their success this season has increased their fan following. A tremendous rise for tickets is being seen for the home matches, specifically for the game against Northeast United FC.

The first fan club of Delhi Dynamos - the DDFC Ultras - said that they are "hard at work in gathering even more support, and engaging more people in their efforts to upstage any NEUFC fans that come for the game on Tuesday".

Last season's fixture between the two sides here had seen an overwhelming number of supporters cheering the visiting side, making it look like a home game for the Highlanders.

Commenting on the sale of tickets, marquee manager-player of the Lions Roberto Carlos said, "The team is all geared up for the game and are excited on the prospect at playing in front of our home fans after four away games on the trot. I am looking forward to hearing the chants and songs that the Delhi Dynamos Ultras have prepared."

Delhi Dynamos, after playing away for most of this season, play the next four consecutive matches at home. DDFC President Prashant Agarwal said, "The atmosphere in our last home game was electrifying and now with the festival season approaching, I am sure the team on the pitch and the fans in the stands will start our celebrations in advance. It is a great time to be a Delhite."

A record audience turned up for Dynamos' last game here at the JLN stadium where Dynamos trumped Chennaiyin FC by a solitary goal. The official attendance figure of 19,453 on that day is a record for an ISL match at the venue.

The match also saw the first ever "mobile torch wave" in a sporting venue in India. The "mobile torch wave" is a modified form of the popular Mexican wave where the supporters turn on their mobile phone torches and hold it up as they do the Mexican wave.
