London: Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is adamant over bringing former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola at Stamford Bridge as team’s new manager, and the Russian billionaire is ready to make another offer for the Spaniard.
Guardiola recently admitted that he might only require a month rather than months to recharge his batteries, and make a swift return to managing a top-flight club, but only if any of his suitors seduces him to take a job.
“I will be ready to return if one club wants me and seduces me,” a daily quoted Guardiola, as saying.
Abramovich wants to ensure that Chelsea are at the head of the queue of suitors, and will attempt to speak to Guardiola in the next few days.
It is a known fact that Abramovich has made Guardiola his number one choice to take over at Stamford Bridge, and has made several attempts to win over the him since sacking Andre Villas-Boas in March.
Guardiola has long harbored an interest in working in England, and Liverpool has also inquired about his availability as they search for a successor to Kenny Dalglish.
The chances of interim head coach Roberto Di Matteo being given the job full-time remain far-flung, despite him securing the Champions League and FA Cup for the Blues.
Di Matteo is aware that Abramovich is not convinced he is the right man to take Chelsea forward on a permanent basis and make the changes in the squad that he is considering.
