AFC chief to attend FPAI Football Awards ceremony
Kolkata: A host of stars including General Secretary of Asian Football Confederation Alex Soosay will be present at the Lucozade Sport FPAI Indian Football Awards to be held in New Delhi on September 12.
India captain and Football Players Association of India (FPAI) President Bhaichung Bhutia said the top bosses of the Asian football would grace the occasion which will be held at a five-star hotel in the capital.
"We are very happy to announce that the AFC and FIFPro Asia have been very cooperative of our efforts along with AIFF. Apart from (Alex) Soosay, AFC vice-President Manilal Fernando will grace the occasion."
Giving special thanks to AIFF supremo Praful Patel, Bhutia said, "He (Patel) has been instrumental in getting the AFC delegation to attend the Lucozade Sport FPAI Indian Football Awards this year."
Bollywood stars John Abraham, Rahul Bose and Nandana Sen will add glamour to the night.
"We all know that John Abraham and Rahul Bose are great supporters of football. We are very happy that they will be present in the awards function to show their solidarity with FPAI and support football.”
"Nandana Sen will also be present to show her support. I am so happy and grateful that they found time out of their busy schedule to grace the occasion," Bhutia said.
Also, David Borja, Manager (Development Department) of AFC, Brendan Schwab, chairman FIFPro (Asia/Oceania) Chief Executive and General Counsel of Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) and Frederique Winia, Secretary to the FIFPro Board will also grace the occasion, said an FPAI statement.
